Wedding Ceremony Rituals
Rituals in a wedding ceremony hold significant importance. It is a real union and commitment symbol. These ceremonial gestures create a sacred moment, marking the beginning of your life together, and allow you to share your love and promises with your loved ones. This adds an emotional, happy and personal dimension to your celebration.
Here are some ideas for rituals for your wedding ceremony.
The Handfasting Ritual
The Symbolism:
Union, a promise that binds you, values within your couple, a wish, a strength.
Material:
Several colored ribbons of your choice, representing values/promises within your couple.
Scissors if needed.
The Point:
The couple holds hands (intertwined or not) which will be bound by the ribbons, forming a loose knot. The ribbons are tied by loved ones.
The Sand Ritual
The Symbolism:
Each sand represents a family; the union of the two (or more) sands creates a path of love and lifelong bonds. This ritual can be performed by the couple alone or with children.
Material:
Two container
Two or more sands of different colors (preferably one light-colored and one dark-colored, or contrasting colors)
A vase or other container that will serve as the final receptacle
The Point:
Each partner simultaneously pours their sand into a common vase. (The same applies with children)
